Drunken Driver Calls 911 On Himself

Lincoln County 911 operators received an unexpected call Sunday night. A man called to say there was an impaired driver on the road. But the man, 21-year-old Cody Schwoch, was calling to report himself.
Driver: “I’ve been driving. I’ve been drinking. I just kind of want to turn myself in.”
911 Operator: “Were you just driving now?”
Driver: “No, I just parked myself but I’ve been trying to figure out how to call the police department and not 911.”
Authorities said even though the call was unusual, it’s not unheard of.
“We had one instance maybe a year ago when a female caller called herself in but it certainly doesn’t happen a lot,” said Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department Lieutenant Tom Fischer.
