Three Generations Go Skydiving
Three generations of one family celebrated a couple of landmark birthdays by skydiving together Sunday at Skydive Perris.
Faith Gower, who turns 75 on Tuesday, jumped with her daughter, Kimberly Main, who turned 50 on Valentine’s Day. Robert Richardson, 28, joined in the jump with his mom and grandmother.
Gower said she first thought about skydiving when she was trying to earn her pilot’s license about 30 years ago.
“I liked being in the air and thought it would be fun to jump,” said Gower, of Apple Valley. After she watched former President George Bush skydive on his 85th birthday, she figured she could do it and thought 75 would be a good age.
“I asked my daughter to do it to celebrate her 50th, another milestone birthday,” Gower said.
Before the real thing, Main wanted them to do an indoor simulator that is offered at Skydive Perris. Richardson, who had celebrated his 21st birthday by skydiving, let his new bride of two months take his place inside the wind tunnel.
