Ohio Good Samaritan’s Littering Ticket Tossed
May 31, 2012
The Cleveland city prosecutor has dropped a littering charge against a man who threw money to a panhandler earlier this month.
During a court hearing in Cleveland Municipal Court Thursday morning, the prosecutor told the judge the charge was being dropped because it was determined that money is not litter.
A Cleveland police officer cited 42-year-old John Davis of Elyria May 14 after he apparently tossed the cash to another person near the intersection of Interstate 90 and West 117th Street.
The officer wrote on the citation, “Threw paper out window of van (money to panhandler).”
