Mom Foils Robbery
July 10, 2012
A mother who foiled her 22-year-old son’s alleged attempt to rob a convenience store says he deserves to be punished.
Brandon police said the suspect identified as 22-year-old Roy Lynn Mitchell placed a bag of chips on the counter Tuesday at a convenience store and displayed a gun when the clerk opened the cash register.
Surveillance video from the store showed a woman, later identified as Mitchell’s mother, Sharon Mitchell, running over to her son, snatching the gun from his hand and ordering him out of the store.
She initially asked the clerk not to call police. But the clerk did call police and the man was arrested.
