Man Chokes Wife Over Chat Room

A McDonald man was arrested Friday night by borough police after he allegedly choked his wife with a bar from a metal TV snack tray.
Scott Edward Samstag, 39, of 210 E. Barr St., was charged by police with two counts of simple assault and one count each of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and harassment.
Police responded to the home after 911 dispatchers received a hang-up call. When officers arrived, they found Christina Samstag crying along the side of the road.
She told police that she and her husband were in the living room of their home when they got into an argument over a chat room she was visiting.
Scott Samstag became angry and put his hands around his wife’s neck, choking her to the point that she became dazed and almost passed out, police said.Christina Samstag fell to the floor. Her husband got on top of her and placed the bar from a snack tray across her neck and started choking her, police said.
