Dump Truck Rolls Into House
July 31, 2012
A dump truck thought to be in “park” was left subject to the laws of gravity as it rolled down a street and slammed into a Tampa home on Sunday night.
According to Tampa Police, Daniel C. Echols, of Dunedin, parked a 1998 Volvo dump truck behind the LaTeresita Plus Club at 3204 W. Columbus Drive around 8:50 p.m., but it appears he didn’t put the “park.”
Echols went into a nearby cafe as the dump truck began to roll west and crossed N. St. Vincent Stree.
The truck slammed into the home in the 3200 block W. St. Joseph’s Street, breached the living room wall and knocked a TV of a nightstand. The homeowner, Luis Capdevilas, was in the living room, but wasn’t injured.
